What Are Phthalates?
Phthalates are a group of chemicals (oily, colorless liquids) that are used, among other things, to make vinyl and other plastics soft and flexible – think PVC. Many types of phthalates are in use today. As of February 10, 2009, three have been prohibited outright in the USA for use in certain products (DEHP, DBP, and BBP), and three more are prohibited pending further action by the commission (DINP, DIDP, and DNOP). All Kids Konserve products are tested regularly and do not contain any of the phthalates listed above. |

Where are Kids Konserve products made and tested?
After much due diligence and research on how we could produce our products in the USA and still make them affordable to a wide market we came up empty handed. We are however, very happy with the manufacturers we work with in China, India and Taiwan. Many of whom we have known and worked with for years with previous companies we have worked for and who are happy to be creating products for the cause of REUSE! Our products are all responsibly made by factories that are working toward 'green' practices and standards.
Note: It is close to impossible to compete with China for stainless steel in both price and quality.
Testing Products: All Kids Konserve products are tested by a CPSIA accredited testing laboratory to meet FDA requirements and CPSIA standards. We also use independent labs to test our products to assure consistent and non-toxic quality in each and every shipment we receive.
What is CPSIA?
The Consumer Public Safety Information Act (CPSIA) was signed into law in August 2008. The law expands the role of the U.S. Consumer Public Safety Commission (CPSC) and institutes new testing and documentation requirements. The law increases the restrictions on acceptable levels of lead and phthalates, particularly in children's products. Kids Konserve exceeds CPSIA standards, as all products are lead-free and phthalate-free.
What are FDA standards?
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is responsible for ensuring safety of all food packaging and food contact substances. Through the Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN), the FDA regulates food contact materials to ensure they are safe for intended use. Kids Konserve meets these standards. |
